A time-traveling, soulful and style-setting journey about a woman who fights for her independence and identity in the world of gangsters and men. Fresh out of jail, Noor (Nimrat Kaur) is determined not to go back; however, her father has other plans. Nasser (Anupam Kher) wants his daughter to get married and settle down like a good Indian girl. But Noor is different, she wants something different from the lives led by the women in her family--she wants to break free from their mold. This is a modern day feminist tale, and more than anything, it's about Noor's journey of self-discovery. Noor lives with her parents and two sisters in a two-bedroom home in Birmingham, England. She shares a room with her little sister and has to deal with all the chores her parents ask of her. Noor quits her job, which she hates, at a fast food restaurant after she gets into an argument with her manager over wages. She has no plan B, which worries everyone including Nasser who knows his daughters can't survive without men. Noor has a part-time job at a cafe and wants to pursue her dream of opening her own cafe. She is also working on writing a book about the lives of Asian women in the UK. Noor meets Veer (Pulkit Samrat) at a Punjabi wedding and the two hit it off right away. They date for a few weeks, but Veer is still reluctant to introduce Noor to his family, mostly his mother who holds most of the power in the family. After some time, Noor decides to move out on her own. She wants to be free from Nasser's daily nagging and controlling ways and prove that she can be financially independent from men. But when Veer finds out about Noor's plans, he is furious and accuses her of not wanting to be with him. Noor lies to her father and leaves for London with some friends. Veer catches up with Noor and the two make up after he promises to introduce Noor to his family. When Noor meets Veer's mother, she is delighted. She likes Noor and wants Veer to marry her, but the rest of the family is not happy with this match. The soundtrack features 8 songs composed by Mithoon, Krsna Solo and Rochak Kohli while the background score is composed by Sandeep Chowta.
